Finlay Adam Jamieson
Born in Aberdeen on August 17th, 1995, Finlay began playing drums by the age of 8. After being self taught, lessons on both Percussion and Piano followed at the age of 14 after his acceptance into Aberdeen City Music School. Starting in a small Jazz group he continued under classical tuition as a self taught Jazz drummer. In his fifth year of ACMS he was accepted into the main NYJOS touring band on an extensive tour playing Rick Taylors untitled 5 piece suite. This ignited his passion for Jazz. In his Final year he played several challenging Solo and duet Marimba concerts across Aberdeen including the Music hall. Finlay is currently performing with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland, MULK (A Danny Kyle Award winning young multi-genre folk group) yearly at both Celtic Connections and The Edinburgh Fringe, as well as Kingdom Brass at several competitions across the UK. In the past he has also performed yearly at The Shetland Jazz Festival with Troppo Funk, a self made group from the isles which included performances with the highly acclaimed London based Saxophonist Gilad Atzmon. He has also toured with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, The final concert being part of the BBC Proms broadcast on Radio 3 and on BBC FOUR at the Royal Albert Hall featuring the world famous Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti.
